U.S. Department of Transportation Federal Aviation Administration Advisory Circular Subject: OFFICE OF AIRPORT SAFETY AND STANDARDS ELECTRONIC BULLETIN BOARD Date: 7/3/95 Initiated by: AAS-100 AC No: 150/5000-8A Change: 1. PURPOSE. This advisory circular provides guidance in the use of the FAA Airports Bulletin board System (BBS). 2. BACKGROUND. Several publications initiated by the Office of Airport Safety and Standards contain information that changes often. An electronic bulletin board has been established to provide timely access to such information. Certain new and changed advisory circulars and technical reports will be available for downloading from the bulletin board immediately upon approval. In addition, several computer programs of use to airport operators and designers have been produced by the Office of Airport Safety and Standards. They also may be downloaded from the bulletin board. A list of the current dates and version numbers of all advisory circulars and many other publications issued by the Federal Aviation Administration is posted, indicating which are presently available for downloading. There is no charge to access the bulletin board or download information. 3. CANCELLATION. This advisory circular (AC) cancels AC 150/5000-8 dated 7/27/92. 4. EQUIPMENT REQUIREMENTS. ACCESSING THE BULLETIN BOARD. a. The parameters of the user's computer must be set to match those of the bulletin board before dialing. Upon connection with the bulletin board for the first time, users are required to register by answering a short questionnaire. The bulletin board is menu-driven, and detailed instructions for downloading files are provided. b. The public can access the most recently developed news in the AAS-100 Bulletin Board by connecting through the Federal Aviation Administration Corporate Bulletin Board System, 800-224-6287. This information network meets the same parameters as those stated above. 7. COMMENTS INVITED. Comments regarding the FAA Airports Bulletin Board System should be directed to the System Operator by using the (C)omment command from the main bulletin board menu. Raymond T.
