PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Depot projects have an obvious link to rail transportation. This one has the distinction of serving the first rail line laid by the Central of Georgia Railroad in 1835, connecting the thriving port of Savannah to the hinterlands of Georgia. Today, it is immediately adjacent to the primary historic district approach via Interstate-16 which terminates at the district boundary.
