Using data from the U.S. Census Bureau’s decennial census, this report analyzes demographic trends, journey-to-work, and worker characteristics in major U.S. metropolitan statistical areas from 1960-2000.

Pisarski, Alan E. Commuting in America II: The Second National Report on Commuting Patterns and Trends. Lansdowne, VA: Eno Transportation Foundation, 1996. 112 pages.

Using data from the 1990 decennial census, this report analyzes U.S. commuting trends. It is a companion to the 1987 report, which was based on data gathered from the 1980 census. The intent of both reports is to aid decisionmakers in developing new transportation policies. Index.

This congressionally mandated annual report, known as TSAR, is intended to give Congress and the President a regular and statistical overview of major transportation issues. The first part of the report discusses transportation indicators that relate to 15 main topics in transportation. The second part of the report discusses the state of transportation statistics in five core transportation areas and makes some suggestions for improvements. Several areas in the report deal with urban transportation issues.
