The American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA) publishes many conference proceedings, some of which deal with aircraft. The Finding Guide to AIAA [Meeting] Papers is issued annually by AIAA (New York: AIAA/TIS, annual) and lists all conference proceedings. The National Aeronautic and Space Administration sponsors research on all aspects of aircraft in the tradition of its predecessor NACA, the National Advisory Committee on Aeronautics. The NASA CASI TRS database identifies all the NASA and NACA technical report literature and offers a document delivery service.

The National Transportation Safety Board is an independent Federal agency that investigates every civil aviation accident in the United States and significant accidents in the other modes of transportation.
