The Code of Federal Regulations is a codification of the general and permanent rules published in the Federal Register by the Executive departments and agencies of the United States Federal Government. The Code is divided into 50 titles which represent broad areas subject to Federal regulation.

Title 14: Aeronautics and Space is composed of five volumes. The first three volumes (Part 1-199) are comprised of Chapter I, Federal Aviation Administration. The fourth volume (Parts 200-1199) is comprised of Chapter II, Office of the Secretary, Department of Transportation (Aviation Proceedings). The fifth volume,Part 200-End, is comprised of Chapter V, National Aeronautics and Space Administration. Subchapter A of Chapter II contains the Economic Regulations, Subchapter B, Procedural Regulations, Subchapter D, Special Regulations, Subchapter E, Organization, and Subchapter F contains Policy Statements.

The RGL is a set of searchable databases with regulatory, guidance and aviation product information. The RGL provides access to Federal Aviation Regulations (FARs) from 14 CFR both in their current and historical versions. It enables the user to assemble certain FAR Parts as they existed at any date in the past (this is referred to as a Regulatory Basis). The RGL also lists make/model information for all civil aviation products including all current Type Certificate Data Sheets (TCDS). In addition, it contains all current Airworthiness Directives (ADs) and all aviation safety Advisory Circulars (ACs).

File contains all of the data as reported by participating air carriers from the continuous 10% sample of airline tickets. It includes the full itinerary and the dollar amounts paid by each passenger. The data are summarized by routing and fares paid. DOT posts the mileage for each itinerary segment, applies a numeric code identifying each city/airport, and a world area code to indicate the state/country.

Carriers with one percent or more of total domestic scheduled service passenger revenues are required to report data for their flight involving any airport in the 48 contiguous states that account for one percent or more of domestic scheduled service passenger enplanements. The regulation also provides for the voluntary reporting of a carrier's entire domestic system and voluntary reporting by other carriers. The reporting carriers have uniformly elected to report their total domestic system operations. Some of the data elements included are: departure, arrival and elapsed flight times as shown by the Official Airline Guide (OAG), the carrier's computer reservations system (CRS) and the carrier's actual performance; and selected differences among the three sources, such as delay and elapsed time difference.

The second data bank reports on the same data plus U.S. air carrier data between two foreign points; these data are held confidential for three years after the report date.
